Dozens of Alberta Health Services sites are facing service disruptions. Many rural Albertans are calling it alarming and are demanding help.

Oyen, a town of about 1,000 people located 300 kilometers east of Calgary, has no acute care beds in hospitals and limited emergency department services.

“It’s pretty dire,” Conny Hertz told Global News. She’s a retired health-care worker in Oyen.

She and other area residents are pointing at AHS and say the community isn’t getting enough support.

It’s no secret that if you want to build up muscle mass, you need to eat accordingly.

To put that into context, it’s recommended that men consume 2,500 calories a day, so that’s over a week’s worth of recommended food.

Hall, 35, paid the price too, and he admitted that the repercussions of eating so much on a day were bad – dubbing the event the ‘worst day of my life.’

He said that prior to this day, he would regularly eat between 12,500 and 15,000 calories to bulk up, but he decided to go all out on one particular

Chinese Protests Over Health Insurance Underscore Risks for Xi

(Bloomberg) — Chinese pensioners returned to the streets of Wuhan to protest changes to their medical benefits, highlighting the challenge confronting President Xi Jinping’s government following historic anti-lockdown demonstrations in November.

Photos and videos taken in Wuhan on Wednesday showed a large group of people gathered under an overpass singing and chanting, despite a heavy police presence. Hundreds of people and rows of police outside the city’s Zhongshan Park were also seen in photos shared on China’s Weibo microblogging platform.

Hours later, the online footage has largely disappeared, with searches for “Zhongshan Park” and “Wuhan medical insurance reform” on Weibo

Chia seeds are tiny, oval-shaped seeds that appear black and white in color. They’re the seeds of a plant native to Mexico and were a staple in ancient civilizations. “Chia seeds were originally cultivated as a dietary staple in Mesoamerican cultures, in the Mexican region among the Aztecs and Mayans, thousands of years ago,” explains registered dietitian nutritionist Jenna Volpe, RDN. “This may explain why ‘chia’ is derived from the Spanish word ‘chian,’ which originates from the

As obesity rates rise, many kids in the US don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, the study finds

Nearly half of children ages 1 to 5 are not eating a daily vegetable and nearly one-third are not eating a daily fruit, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At the same time, the majority of kids — 57% — in that age range reported drinking at least one added-sugar beverage per week, according to the CDC, which analyzed data from the 2021 National Survey of Children’s Health, which included more than 18,000 children.

It’s been three years since Christophe Legault, now 12, was diagnosed with obesity and started treatment.

He had been having trouble at school — his grades were dropping, he was being bullied and he was struggling to participate in sports such as basketball, his favourite.

The program he’s been following at Maison de Santé Prévention, a semi-private, subsidized clinic in Montreal, involves intensive lifestyle and nutrition counselling, including finding out what kinds of food and exercise work for him and his family, who pays for the treatment.

With help from doctors, nurses, nutritionists and other experts, the family made changes

Does the president’s exam provide clues for 2024?

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden remains a “healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency,” the White House physician said Thursday after the president received his first physical exam in a year and a half .

One small lesion, however, was removed from the president’s chest during the examination and will be sent for a traditional biopsy, Biden’s physician, Kevin O’Connor, said in a letter that otherwise mostly reflected his last medical checkup from November 2021.

Biden’s physical routine has taken on extra scrutiny as the octogenarian is widely expected to announce a
