Menopause typically occurs in women between 45 to 55 years old, when the menstruation cycle ends. During this period, females can experience a range of symptoms.

But a few talk about it, according to registered dietitian Nishta Saxena, who says that creates an opportunity for misinformation and myths to fill the void.

‘Dire situation’ as rural Alberta hospital sees staff shortages, ER closures

Dozens of Alberta Health Services sites are facing service disruptions. Many rural Albertans are calling it alarming and are demanding help.

Oyen, a town of about 1,000 people located 300 kilometers east of Calgary, has no acute care beds in hospitals and limited emergency department services.

“It’s pretty dire,” Conny Hertz told Global News. She’s a retired health-care worker in Oyen.

She and other area residents are pointing at AHS and say the community isn’t getting enough support.

Chinese Protests Over Health Insurance Underscore Risks for Xi

(Bloomberg) — Chinese pensioners returned to the streets of Wuhan to protest changes to their medical benefits, highlighting the challenge confronting President Xi Jinping’s government following historic anti-lockdown demonstrations in November.

Photos and videos taken in Wuhan on Wednesday showed a large group of people gathered under an overpass singing and chanting, despite a heavy police presence. Hundreds of people and rows of police outside the city’s Zhongshan Park were also seen in photos shared on China’s Weibo microblogging platform.

Hours later, the online footage has largely disappeared, with searches for “Zhongshan Park” and “Wuhan medical insurance reform” on Weibo

As obesity rates rise, many kids in the US don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, the study finds

Nearly half of children ages 1 to 5 are not eating a daily vegetable and nearly one-third are not eating a daily fruit, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

At the same time, the majority of kids — 57% — in that age range reported drinking at least one added-sugar beverage per week, according to the CDC, which analyzed data from the 2021 National Survey of Children’s Health, which included more than 18,000 children.
